Drink in a Speakeasy
there are several speakeasy bars in Paris coming directly from the 1920s.
For example, Moonshiner has no address and no markings. You must know the location or email Moonshiner to ask. Walk into a cheap pizzeria. Nod to the guy at the counter and without speaking, pass behind him and behind the cash register. No one will bother you. Open the large freezer door in back and walk inside. The interior opens to a magnificent dreamy, fully lit dramatic bar and welcoming bartender ready to serve you. Shhhh. No names. Pay in cash. Small bills. Leave a big tip without a word. Wink on the way out. Tell no one.
Here are several Speakeasy Bars in Paris.
Drink Absinthe
Absinthe, known as “la fée verte” was banned across the world because of its purported psychoactive drug and hallucinogenic effects. After a trace amount of one specific chemical was removed in production, Absinthe is found to be no more dangerous than any other spirit.
Absinthe rebounded into the market in the last several decades. Nevertheless, the myth of drinking like writers, painters and bohemians at the turn of the 20th century (Hemingway, Baudelaire, Toulouse- Lautrec, Picasso, van Gogh, Proust and more) enhances the ritual of preparing your own drink from a handmade Absinthe fountain. Of the Ten Best Absinthe Bars in Paris, I prefer La Fée Verte in the 11th. It's a dive bar but full of friendly folks.
Drink in an Ice Bar
le Kube is the only ice bar in Paris where everything is made of sparkling clear, pure ice… walls, ceiling, bar, chairs and glasses. 25€ for 25 minutes including 2 cocktails and a shot… plus a down jacket on loan. Photos are astounding.
Drink with Kitties
There are two Cat Cafés in Paris that serve beverages while cats freely mingle among guests. Grab a hot chocolate and pastry, read a book in an easy chair and pet a kitty. Do not disturb them while they sleep and no feeding. Petting and cuddling are very welcome. The cats will love you. The kitties will purrrrrr, you will smile and your blood pressure will drop

Drink Champagne in Paris
Do you fancy a coupe de champagne in a super fancy place? I sometimes take a glass in magnificent places [I hardly call a 'bar'] and slowly sip a glass of champagne, enjoying the atmosphere. Champagne can be frightfully expensive but the atmosphere is extra-ordinary.
